3D printing with living organisms

Dutch designer Chloé Rutzerveld has developed the project “Edible Growth” together with the Eindhoven University of Technology and the research organization TNO and is investigating new ways of using 3D printing in the food industry. The project has proved that a 3D food printer is capable of printing living organisms. A dough mixture containing yeast, seeds and spores, which will start to grow after only a few days, is turned into a basket-shaped snack through 3D printing. Users can enjoy a tasty baked snack flavored by plants and mushrooms.
