AI software reduces energy needs of data centers

Researchers at Lancaster University have developed the AI-based software “REx” that could help significantly reduce the energy needs of data centers. When presented with a task, the system looks to the large library of software components and then selects and assembles those that are ideal for the specific task. This “micro-variation” method lets “Rex” autonomously create software designs that automatically ensure the best use of server power.
