Designers from Autodesk Generative Design Lab have used the CAD software Dreamcatcher to design a chair named "Elbo". The team first came up with a temporary 3D model of the chair. They then defined how much weight the chair could withstand, the ideal seat height, how wide the chair should be and the material properties. Based on this, Dreamcatcher generated hundreds of designs which were gradually narrowed down to a more choice selection. Compared to the original draft, the finished chair required 18% less material. This chair also distributes the weight of the person sitting in it much better.
