Ford has tested a delivery robot that is stored in the back of a self-driving car, where it waits for deployment and then unfolds itself. Known as "Digit", the robot is taken to the deployment location by the vehicle. When the trunk opens, the robot unfolds, picks up a parcel and delivers it to the customer's front door. To overcome obstacles more easily, "Digit" has legs instead of wheels. The 1.50-metre robot was developed by Agility Robots. The combination with self-driving vehicles enables "Digit" to be charged on the go and use their sensors and cameras for navigation.
