The Swiss start-up Kitro has developed a fully automated food-waste management solution for restaurants and cafeterias. It consists of a box and software to help hospitality businesses monitor food waste. Users receive food-waste analyses that look at aggregate data on weight, waste production and time periods. They can identify sources of waste based on peak values, weight and costs while determining and limiting inefficiencies in their business. Less food thrown away means lower expenses for food and waste as well as fewer resources wasted.
