The Vancouver-based global shoe brand Native Shoes has developed the first 100% sustainable, biodegradable shoe. The shoe is made entirely of plant-based materials. The upper material consists of carded pineapple husks and organic cotton. This part lies on a midsole of cork and sisal, as well as a natural lactae hevea outer sole. An organic linen sockliner and a footbed made of Kenaf and corn fibre fill the interior of the shoe. Finally, the whole thing is bound together by organic cotton shoelaces.
