Taxis play ads based on facial recognition

The Japanese developer of e-commerce platforms and mobile services DeNA is fitting taxis in the country with a facial recognition system for passengers so that the displays on the front seats can show them personalised ads. Known as "Premium Taxi Vision", the system uses a camera to determine the number, age and gender of passengers. The data is then transferred to an advertising agency that plays ads matching the targets. Facial recognition is done on the display and the recorded material is immediately deleted when the recognition is complete.
