Vultures find illegal garbage dumps

As part of the "Gallinazo Avisa" campaign, Peru's Ministry of the Environment has fitted vultures with GoPros and GPS transmitters to locate garbage dumps in the capital city Lima. The reason for this campaign is the fact that so much garbage is dumped illegally in Lima. As black vultures seek out food in the garbage and reach remote and hidden areas, they are ideal for tracking the garbage dumps. The authorities can then use the camera images to work out the size of the dumps while the GPS data allows them to see where their collection trucks should be sent.
